今回も『学生と企業の緩やか座談会』のイベントレポートをアップします！
新型コロナウイルスの状況を見ながら開催形式を柔軟に対応している本イベント。
今回はオンラインで、2022年2月17日に開催した平林金属株式会社さんの座談会の様子をお届けします。

今年で2年目の座談会ご参加となる平林金属さん。
合説などにも積極的に参加されているので、社名は知っている方も多いかもしれませんね。
平林金属さんは鉄・金属を中心としたマテリアルリサイクルを生業とする企業さんです。
岡山県内各地に拠点を持ち、法人（会社、自治体、学校などなど）で不用になったものを回収し、資源に戻しています。
近年はえこ便というB to C店舗を立ち上げ、よりスマートにごみを出せる仕組みを確立させました。
今回の座談会では、そんな平林金属を牽引する平林社長と、人事の小室さんにお越しいただきました！

平林金属の存在価値とは？
皆さんは、「ご家庭で不用になった●●がありませんか？」と呼び掛けて回るトラックを見たことがありませんか？
ODL就活Caféでも時々このアナウンスの声が外から聞こえます。
実はこのトラックは違法。
その他にも違法投棄などまだまだゴミに関する問題は岡山にもあります。
平林金属さんは事業を通してこれらの環境問題と向き合っています。
ご存じの通りこれからさらに人口減少が見込まれ、その分ゴミ総量は減るかもしれませんが、一人ひとりがルールを守ることできちんと会社として成り立っていくのでは、と平林社長。

例えば、えこ便では会員登録が必須となりますが、会員になるにあたってきちんとゴミ出しのルール・マナーを知ることができます。
ただし、えこ便の無いエリアがあるという現状もあります。より幅広い地域の方々に活用してもらうために「こんなアイディアはどうか？」という平林社長のアイディアはすごくおもしろかったです…気になる方は是非座談会で聞いてみてください。笑

スポーツや部活動の経験が活きる？
イベント中、特に盛り上がったのは人事の小室さんからの逆質問「なんで平林金属に興味を持ってくれたのか？」ということ。
小室さんは学生時代サッカーに打ち込んでいて、形は違えどスポーツを応援している地元・岡山の企業を希望して平林金属に出会ったそうです。（平林金属さんではソフトボール部や野球部があります）
実は今回ご参加いただいた学生さんは、平林金属さんのインターンシップ等にも参加されたそうですが、興味の理由として小室さんと同じような理由を挙げてくださった方が多くてびっくり。
スポーツだけではありませんが、部活動などでは挨拶や上下関係、人間関係などを大事にされていると思います。
もちろん社会に出てもこれは当たり前ですが、平林金属さんは部活動を立ち上げた時期からこれを大事にされているそうで、学生さんから「会う社員さん皆さんが挨拶をしてくださって嬉しかった」という言葉も。
スポーツを仕事にするのは難しいですが、こういう企業の選択肢もあるんだなということは、私もそうですが、平林社長も「おもしろいな～！」と興味深そうにされていました。
時代の移り変わりのスピードは速まっている
座談会の中で、平林社長が仰っていることが昨年と変わっていらっしゃるなと感じました。
昨年は「SDGs」「マテリアルリサイクル」がキーワードだったように思いますが、今年平林社長が強調されていたのは「カーボンニュートラル」。

2020年、当時の首相・菅氏が「2050年までに温室効果ガスの排出を全体としてゼロにする」という宣言をしたのも記憶に新しいですね。
平林社長もこの話題に沿って事業を展開していきたいと仰っていました。
また今までSDGsを当たり前のように取り組まれていた平林金属さんですが、世間的に取り沙汰されるようになり、改めてホームページへの掲載準備を始められたそうです。ホームページのアップも楽しみです！
平林社長が最後に仰った、「知識はあくまで今日までのもの。これからどのように変わるかは不透明だがそれを素直に受け入れてやっていきたい」というお話も印象的でしたね。
