モノづくりに興味がある学生さんから、そうでもない学生さんまで幅広く参加されたので、色々なお話が聞けておもしろかったです。
実は私も文系卒で、社会人になるまでモノづくりとは縁がない人生を過ごしてきました。今回の座談会では身の周りにあるものを用いて分かりやすくご説明いただいたので、製造業がどんな仕事をしているのか理解を深めることができました。
アァル技研さんのすごいところは、日本・世界に通用する技術集団でありながら、平均年齢32歳で10名程度の会社規模だということ。（私自身本当に驚きました！）未経験から始めた方や女性スタッフも活躍していらっしゃいます。
高田さんも経営学を学んでいらっしゃったということで、未経験からのスタートだったそうです。「本当にできるものなの？」という学生さんからの質問に対し、「やりたい！という想いがあればモノづくりは誰にでもできる」と仰っていました。
目標に向かって普段から勉強や努力を怠らないという姿勢を拝見し、私ももちろんですが学生さんにとってもモチベーションが上がったと思います。
『Made in Japan』は一種のステータス
一方、行本常務からはこんなお話がありました。
『Made in Japan』は一種のステータスだと考えている人が多いそうです。常務は旅行が趣味で、海外旅行に行った時に「日本では廃車同然の車が現地では大活躍している」のを見て驚きと喜びを抱いたそうです。
では、なぜ『Made in Japan』は信頼性が高いのでしょうか？様々な要因があると思いますが、そのうちの一つに「丁寧な仕事」が挙げられます。お客様やエンドユーザーのことを思いやりながら、心を込めてモノをつくる。その姿勢こそが、『モノづくりの根本』であり、『Made in Japanの誇り』なのだと常務は語ってくださいました。
日本には、数多くの製造業の企業さんがあります。名前だけ聞くと「堅そうだな」「自分には縁がないな」と決め付けてしまうような企業でも実際に会って話を聞くと「意外におもしろそうだな」と思うこともあると思います。ぜひ、就活の機会を存分に活かして、幅広く業界に目を向けてほしいなと思いました。
